Consider name calling abuse when the spirit of the name calling becomes intentionally hurtful and consistent. It is ok to have pet names, but when those become personal and designed to emotionally attack someone else, it's time to move on.
Frequency,intensity and duration.
How frequently does it happen?
To what intensity ( is a slip of tongue or is it to hurt you )
How long is it going on, and are they attacks that continue for some length of time.

All name calling is basically abuse!
But it is tolerated in a good natured sort of way amongst friends.
Within colleagues too.
It becomes what it is (abuse) when people dont like it ans when it is done with intent to hurt and not for fun.

To me Name calling is abuse when You say it to someone, like u say something about someone and you know its true and you use it to hurt there feelings and u know its getting to them! Thats when i think u abused name calling and also when profanity is used,,,,,,
