A super volcano is a volcano that emits over 1000 cubic kilometers in ash and other debris. Super volcanoes are a very devastating phenomenon.
The last super volcanic eruption was from the super volcano of Toba. Toba was such a massive volcanic eruption that it put mankind into a genetic bottle neck. Meaning that it wiped out more than 95 percent of the human population at the time it went off. Meanings hundreds of millions of people died. There were only a few hundred million people alive on the planet at the time Toba went off.
So if another super volcano goes off anytime soon, humanity is in for a rude awakening. It would be simply disastrous. We would have 40 years of darkness. As the ash would blot out the sun for 40 years.
Let us all hope the next super volcanic eruption has a few more millions of years to go.
