Why is a keystone not the load bearer in an arch? It seems to make sense that it would be...

This was an extra point question on our quiz today and I got it wrong? In an arch, what would be the load bearing stones?

Its the same reason your hips don't bear all of your weight. The keystone and your hips act as a sort of transfer point. So the correct answer would have been the bottom stones. Good luck next time!
