Have you ever bought stuff online from over seas?

Have you ever bought stuff online from over seas?

I tend to like a lot of European music, and sometimes, you don't have a lot of options but to buy it from Europe directly.

In the last week I've bought a couple cds from

http://www.amazon.co.uk
http://www.amazon.de

(it is pretty nice that you can use your same http://www.amazon.com login for the foreign sites)

And in the past I've bought cds from international people in Germany off http://www.eBay.com and got the new Nightwish direct from their finish online store. I've gotten stuff direct from Germany from the Rammstein online store.

And back in the day, I got a rare Neo Geo CD video game from someone in France, paid for via international money order before the days of PayPal. That was fun to figure out how to pay for. LOL

You just have to pay attention to the conversion rates when you are buying things, otherwise you find out later how much it really cost. And you also realize how much the dollar has been devalued amongst world currencies in recent years.

What all have you bought from over seas and did you get anything really cool? Which sites did you buy from?

The only thing that comes to mind is these twinky things called Tokyo Banana's that are my husband's favorite treats, so I like to get them for special holidays. His best friend from Tokyo brought some about 2 years ago. The site is COMPLETLY in japanese (which I don't speak :) so that makes it really difficult. Our friend told me where to click and everything, so I had the system down until they redid their website.

Check it out:

LOL

That is the same thing with buying from amazon.de, the only reason I could use it is because

1. it has the exact same layout as amazon.com
2. it already had my info in the system from amazon.com

you might need to talk to your friend again and find out where to click. unless you have tried using http://www.google.com/translate or something to translate the site.
