What are online shopping disadvantages?

The disadvantage of shopping online is that you cannot inspect the item before purchasing it, and it is harder and more expensive to make a return. There are also scams. You may also lose sight of how much you have purchased and accidentally overspend. BE SURE THE SITE IS SECURE IF YOU ARE PROVIDING CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.

The disadvantages are many as listed by Hadamard, but can be minimized when purchasing from reputable sites like Amazon, or store websites where you can purchase online and pick it up locally or have it shipped to local store like Walmart.
If it is reputable site then shipping of defective item is free as well. To avoid scam check the rating of the site. In lot of case when buying online out of state you do not have to pay tax and shipping is free or very small for most items. You can check the item in store and then buy it online there in store and have it shipped. Lot of credit cards offer one time use number(s) to be used for online purchases.

Great comments. For me, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. I love to group my purchases and get free shipping on Amazon for holiday gifts, and I love zappos.com for shoes---free shipping and returns and they even send me an e-mail when they get in my (extra-wide) shoe size.

1..you cannot see the product before you get it
2..if you don't like it you have to take the time to send it back
3..you have to use a credit card or debt cart
4..it may be on an email list for more advertisements or spam
5..beware of the word "Free"

The biggest disadvantage when shopping online is that you have to wait for the product you purchased to be shipped to you, but at least you didn't have to drive any where.

Disadvantages include:

1) Clothes or items never look the exact same online as they do in the shops
2) There's always that danger that something may go wrong when paying
3) You can get carried away and spend too much (I know I have)
4) Prices can seem attractive, but then there's Postage & Packaging costs
5) You can't try on or test out the products online
6) Making an account for each site you want to buy from can be tedious
7) Returning the item can be so much hassle

I can't think of anymore right now, but there's quite a few.
