What is the best (least painful way) to start stretching your ears with earings?

I have a friend who wants to do that so I want to get her stretchers fro christmas but I don't know what size?

Go to a professional and have them stretched one guage at a time. It will take forever, but it will be relatively painless.

Not necessarily, I have mine to 1/2 inch, did it myself with tapers or pinchers, start very slowly with a taper that goes from 16 to maybe 8, don't do it too quickly or you could get blowout or a bad infection, DON'T STRETCH WITH WOOD!!!!!!!!

I forgot to ask, are her ears normal earring size right now? (18g or 16g) and how big does she want to go, like I said I have mine all the way to 1/2 inch, my boyfriend's are 1 inch, I have alot of body piercing experience...

Nice! Thanks - She has a 12g now. I don't think she wants to go that far... maybe a 6g.
