Hi everyone! In the Bible jesus speaks of "no man can serve two masters" and also "it easire for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.."

In this crazy world that we live in, I personally find it hard to put all my faith into one belief. Who's to say what is really going on. I love the idea of Jesus and the Bible to be true but there is nothing out there that cannot be undeniably true, e.g. Jesus' life has a remarkable similarity to the ancient God Horus which was spoke of before Jesus. Which one is true or are they both fictional?
I really want to be wealthy when I'm older, I have many dreams, but the Bible almost completely discourages any notion of owning such desires.
If I knew with certainty, no doubt in my mind that Jesus was real and is there for me in the kingdom of heaven I would sell all my possessions and live my life through Gods' will. Yes I know it also says in the Bible for we do not travel by sight but through faith.
Do I follow my dreams of becoming wealthy and prosperous (Risk of Hell forever) or (Risk my maybe only life) to learn the teaching of Christ that may turn out to be false?

Life is precious and I think you should do what makes you happy. Don't live your life in fear of going to hell.

You have really asked several questions. First, Jesus did not say you had to be poor to follow him. The Bible doesn't discourage wealth. It is when the seeking of wealth comes before the seeking to do what God would have you do. Jesus told the rich young ruler to "sell all he had" because that man had wealth, but it wasn't enough for him. He wanted what Jesus had and the only way he could get it was by changing his life. The whole idea of the Christian life is to follow God's lead in all of our actions. There are many people who have followed Jesus and they are wealthy. Some people have the gift of wealth and are to use it for the well-being of others. You seem to have a good surface knowledge of the Bible, but, yes, you are not ready to live life by faith. You want guarantees--and there are none in life--not even in money!

Well said Novella. The only thing I would add is that in becoming a Christian, life does not all of a sudden get easier, in fact sometimes it gets downright harder. You become tested in many ways. Sometimes to grow your faith, and sometimes because Satan wants to damage your testimony.

Best to all,

Jesus tells us exactly what is going on, and proof postive is the prophecies which God has given to us, there has never ever or will ever be anyone who can predict with 100 percent accuracy. God says to prove him.
When all one can desire is weath, then that is a spirit of greed, God blesses those that keeps his word and obeys his voice. Just like Abraham if you do this thing then God will take care of you materially.
It sounds to me through your post that your putting clauses in there if God does this for you then you will do this for him, thats not the way it works.
and no you can't serve two masters, if you sit at the devils table then you can not sit at Gods.
Its very true if you put this world before God (which will pass away), you will die in the lake of fire. God gives us advanced warning to those who want to disobey him, and tells of a greater promise of those who has faith in Christ and does the Fathers will, verses their own.

God does not punish us for our wealth. We are told to Put God first in our life.If your desire to being wealthy is more important that God then it is wrong.I will ask you the same as I do anyone who ask how do you know he is real and there is a heaven.First look around you.God is everywhere. He created everything around us.The trees, grass, sky, stars, our family.etc..Mostly I tell people read your bible. All your answers are there. It is our roadmap to heaven.Man will have different answers for you but the word of God is the one we must live by to make heaven our home.

Leo,
First of all. You are right, It is taking it by faith but, there are sighns alll around that point to Jesus and the Bible. Take the rainbow, in the bible god says he put the rainbow there in the sky as a reminder that he will never flood the earth again. The devil is a genius at trying to confuse us and make us believe that Jesus is not the way. I remember when i first got saved. I was a real devil. Into drugs, liquer, you name it. When i accepted Jesus, I instantly was changed. It scared many because I went from Black to White overnight but, I was the happiest person on the inside. Jesus had given me peace. The devil has a counterfeit for peace, it is happiness with outward things, possessions. I suggest you start praying for God to give you a specific sign if you are truely unsure. As for wanting wealth. God promises his children blessings on certain conditions, i believe. His word says give and it shall be given unto you pressed down, shaken together and overflowing in your lap. King David and Solomon were very wealthy. I believe God wants you to have a giving heart and share your wealth. God does not want us living in Egypt again like the children of isreal did. He was us blessed and free and to share that blessing and freedom. It is important that you not be consumed with wealth but, with Jesus. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. Please pick Jesus. kim gammill

Actually, we have a pretty good discussion going on here. Great points of view. However I would like to answer you with a question.
You say, "Do I follow my dreams of becoming wealthy and prosperous (Risk of Hell forever) or (Risk my maybe only life) to learn the teaching of Christ that may turn out to be false?
First, a fact. Yes, this is your one and only life.
The question, "What if, all you have heard of God, of Jesus's second coming, His sacrifice, His Salvation, His kingdom and all that, forget the question of, "what if it was all false?, for your problem does not lie here, your problem is, "WHAT IF IT ALL TURNS OUT TO HAVE BEEN TRUE?" Isn't a glimmer of hope of LIFE ETERNAL worth living for GOD? Okay, two questions!

Who is wealthier than the Vatican? Sitting on infinity number of dollars, while somewhere in Africa a crying child is watching his dead mother be eaten by vultures. What "wealth" do They teach us that is wrong? It's good for them to collect your share of hard earned dollars, they CAN be wealthy, but not you. They will spend it on wars and political crap and me and you will keep giving and giving and giving...Novella said the rest of it very well .You can be wealthy, but never have the feeling that you are better than someone who wears second hand clothes,or drives a 20 year old car. It's the soul and a beating heart that matters, not only the people who ornate themselves with gold and silk.
