This is a practice that trains you to only see the positive. Instead of saying. Today I will not get angry. you say I am in control of my anger today. You are focusing on already accomplishing that goal. The negative is taken out.
I have tried this. One thing I did was write down 10 things that brought me joy today and I did it every night for months. I looked back and realized I had a lot to be thank ful for also that I noticed what does bring me joy and tried to add more of thoses things to my life.
Affirmations needed to be repeated every day. Otherwise your forget them. Only focus on a few or just one for that day when you are first starting out. Say them outloud and even look in the mirror.
Louise Hay is big on this. She has several books out. I have read some. I personally have been reading some Max Lucado books and I like them.
