How do you deal with people who want to change you?

Nice enough folks, but they try to tell you "their" ways are superior to your ways.

We live in a country that was built on the ideals of Manifest Destiny. Converting others to your views. I have a little rebellious streak and I enjoy being on the other end. The best thing you can do is know yourself and where you stand, keep an open mind and listen and hopefully they will do the same. You don't have to change for anyone but yourself. I can almost remember the day when I finally realized I don't care what other people think, I'm going to live my life the way I want. Once you have that epiphany, it won't matter what anyone says, they can take you or leave you.

I generally listen because I might learn something. Then, whether I learned something or not, I just shake my head, mumble something incomprehensible and walk away. It drives them crazy.

Usually people who want to change you, are doing it for their reasons. Which is a very selfish point of view.

Thank you! And thanks to the others who answered. I too have a little rebellious streak. The older I get that streak becomes more precious. Not for the sake of "youthful" rebellion, but for my own peace of mind.

The ONLY ones ways are superior to your ways is GOD! His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts above our thoughts. He is the only one who can change you as well, but He can't even change you without your permission! God is a gentleman and will not make you do anything you do not want to do! A good piece of advice for you, take it or leave it....... seek Him with all of your heart soul mind and understanding every day and you will be fine! He is the only one you have to answer to anyhow unless you are under 18, then sorry, but you have to answer to mom and dad also. :)
