This was the first yoga DVD I ever had and I loved it! It was uplifting and relaxing, but a great workout as well. They teach you the basic poses and variations if you aren't very flexible! I just loved this one. Mtv has a version too that is really fun, but if you are just starting out this one is fantastic.
I wish I would have gone to a seminar to learn at first though because when a yogi sees you pose, they can really tell you if something is wrong and you get the full benefit, I had to unlearn some of my bad habits. Most yoga places will have like a 1 month seminar for beginners at much cheaper than their other classes (to get you hooked of course :)
Hope that helps! BTW the best time to do yoga is early morning or sunset depending on whether you are a morning or a night person.

When you do yoga...your supposed to get tottally lost in it. Im a huge fan of it. DVDs and Books make your lose your concentration when your doing yoga and medating. I suggest you memorize some yoga positions, so when you do yoga you can be totally focused on listening to your body and relaxing.Look up some yoga positions on the internet, memorize them, then give yoga a go.

Since you mentioned that you want to feel the presence of God, I'm interpreting that as you are coming from a Christian background. If that assumption is correct then I'd highly recommend almost any book by Father Thomas Keating, but particularly "Open Mind Open Heart: The Contemplative Dimension of the Gospel"
If you're more interested in a Eastern meditation, like Zen... then you can't do much better as an introduction than Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind or something by Thich Nhat Hanh, like "Peace is Every Step."

Exactly LKDaniels... Thank you. I researched the books you mentioned on Amazon. Do you recomend Open Mind Open Heart over the others by Fr. Keating. He has several such as THe Human Condition, Intimacy with God and Invitation to Love.
I need a book that gives me some exercises to help me center myself in prayer better and open my ears and mind better to God's voice and his will.
Have you read his books?
Thanks so much
