Chris Simon steps on Jarkko Ruutus Ankle - 30 game suspension???

I just read an article today about how Chris Simon got a 30 game suspension, the longest in league history, for knocking down and stepping on Jarkko Ruutu's ankle a couple nights ago. He got a match penalty in the game and can't play again until late February. He is also going to get counseling treatment as well in this 1/3 of the season off that he gets.

Watching the video of what he did, it doesn't seem like it is sever enough to draw a 30 game suspension. Suspension yes, maybe 5-10 games tops. Not 30. Compared what Bertuzzi did to Moore that one night that is still talked about in Colorado, what Simon did is nothing.

I think they went way overboard with this suspension, what do you think?

I would have to agree with Burnside: Good riddance.

I think sports leagues are getting FEED UP with players behavior. From drugs, to DUIs, to domestic violence to out-and-out violence against players.

I for one applaud it! They make millions of dollars for playing a game. Instead of acting like a bunch of unruly teenagers, they should conduct themselves like the lucky people they are.

I commend it - there should be a no tolerance policy for ANY intentional injury. I must need coffee :)

I still think that they went over board a bit on this call on Chris Simon.

The consensus is that most people think Chris Simon over stepped his bounds here.
