Your high school basketball coach probably knows the basketball coaches at several colleges. He can put in a good word for you but that doesn't do a lot of good unless you submit applications for admission to those colleges. You can't do that until your senior year. A lot can happen in your senior year, so colleges aren't very interested in scouting juniors. Keep up your hard work on the court and when you start your senior year, make sure your basketball coach knows you're interested in playing basketball in college. He (or she) and your school counselors can guide you on how to proceed from there.

Are you on a team that would get noticed? Are you a top state player?

you could start talking with coaches at schools you'd like to play at.

You should also think about making a "highlights" video if you have footage from past games which I am sure someone does. Don't wait for them to come to you, go to them. Start watching SportsCenter to see a good format for a highlight video and storyboard it out. You can add your voice to make it personal and dynamic and mix in photos and videos.

Your own marketing material. Then let them know how they can get in contact with you to learn more about you or even come to watch you play!

I don't know what these other people are talking about but the bottom line is this: Scouts have noticed you if you are on team that is good or below average. If you are a skilled player then by all means please have some footage of your games. Try to find out through other good players of any summer leagues games going on. Get involved in this atmosphere because scouts for colleges and pro's get information from these events. Yes your coach plays a major part in this process as well as your hard work and dedication to practice. Most scouts have noticed you by the 8th grade if you are good. And I am a witness to this because I played against a young man that was nearly 7 ft tall in the 8th grade. His name is Bobby Joe Edmonds from Mckinney. He went to Oklahoma State to play basketball. So do all you can to find those summer games and get involved in basketball camps. Good luck and God Bless!
