Preferential treatment for Pro athletes?

The Denver Police Department has launched an internal investigation into the actions of the responding officers to a DUI call involving NBA star Carmelo Anthony.

Early Monday morning the Denver Nuggets star forward was pulled over and cited for DUI for allegedly weaving through traffic and refusing to reduce his high beams.

After failing several field sobriety tests, Anthony was cited for DUI. Rather than book Anthony into the city jail, he was allowed to contact an responsible driver. Anthony telephoned his fiancée and after her refusal to cooperate, the responding police sergeant then drove Anthony to the upscale Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Downtown Denver in Anthony's own Mercedes-Benz.

Anthony was reportedly checked-in at the Ritz-Carlton when the indecent occurred.

So I ask you: Is this preferential treatment of a professional athlete, or just concerned police offers following procedure?

Have any of you (without getting into specifics -lol) experienced treatment like this by responding officers?

Pretty dumb question.
He should not of been allowed to leave the jail until he was booked!
Then after being booked, someone can come & pick you up at the jail & take you home.
The police were wrong, but that is just the benefits of having 'star atatus'!

What? That is not right at all. Why does some fancy young NBA player to get have it his way? Where is the Paris Hilton treatment on him? Just because you are famous, doesn't mean you get to spend the night in the Ritz instead of Jail.
