running my first 5k in a month. help!

Help! I'm running my first 5k in few weeks and I'm not sure if I will be able to finish. So far I've only been running a few times a week for no more then a mile or so each time. 5k just seems so far, I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish.

Has anyone run a 5k that can help and let me know if my training for this is enough. I just really want to finish.

I think you should be fine. If you are running a mile a few times a week your body should be used to running. A 5k is only 3 miles. If you even needed to run the 5k this weekend, you could run the first mile, or however long you can go. Then walk for a bit and either finish by walking the rest, or once you are recovered you can run the rest of the way.

good luck!

Ok, I ran my first 10K with a wicked hangover and 3 hours sleep and still came in 5th (my sister came in first and she was still drunk I think) Now mind you I was younge and stupid and being punished by my mother and my sister and I had lettered in cross country and track 3 times. But, if you have been running you should be fine, don't ask more of your body than it can give this first time out. If you can't finish it running, no harm no foul, just a learning lesson walk it off, and try again.

Good Luck, and don't forget to stretch
