Welllllll......... Steroids use in pro sports is illegal, I could go into why, and what it does to the body and bore you all to death, and I can also tell you how they can be used safely but that doesn't make them legal. I don't think they should be allowed to use them any more than other drugs, it taints others natural talent and abilitys.

I think it's only going to be a bigger and bigger story with the truth coming out that more and more players have used them.

There is so much that is sad about this.

First the fact that nothing is sacred anymore for kids - their role models cheat and use illegal substances. It makes me sad that kids really don't have a chance to have anything that isn't tainted anymore.

Second, it's sad because I think it's a reflection of the evolution of American cut-throat values. Sometimes bending the rules is ok if it gets me further than someone else.

Third, it's sad because trivia will never be the same. Many of the records will have * next to them and when I go to the bar to play trivia and I get the question wrong for the most home runs because they say it's Barry Bonds* - there will be a brawl.

The players can't hide behind it. I would like to see baseball do what the Olympic committee did with Marion Jones. Strip of her all her medals and remove her name from the record books.

If baseball un-inducted these players from the hall of fame, removed their records from the record books, and prohibited them from playing in the league ever again, that would turn around this in a heart beat.

Along with the proposals for an independent service to do this, and make them more random.

Anything short of that, and they have a mess on their hands that they can't control.

The thing about the Mitchell report was that it didn't really tell us any new information. If you follow sports especially MLB you knew who was juicing, when and what the results were. The report itself was greeted with yawns and aside from Clemens being the only "big" name mentioned, the release was more hype than substance.

The fact remains that HGH and roids were not illegal when most of the names on the list allegedly juiced - so there is little the league can do by way of punishment that will result in little more than a show for the media.

The real tragedy here is that MLB turned a blind eye to the problem for years and that the US taxpayers had to foot the bill for this investigation.
