Will a 1978 Ford 302 V8 crank shaft (with original flex plate and vib dampner) run smooth in a 1985 Ford 302 V8?

I have a 78 302 Ford crank with original flex plate and vib dampner, and I want to put it in a 1985 302 Ford. Even though Ford changed their flex plate weight in 84 I think, a "complete" 78 crank assembly should still run smooth in an 85. Am I wrong?
