Inadvertant 1099 div exclusion

We are in the process of submitting an amended return for 2006. We determined we received too large of a refund last year because of accidentily excluding the 1099 which increased our capital gains. We want to write a check to to correct this situation but no where on the form are instructions on how to do this. Could someone clear this up for me. Thank you!
