Claiming dependents?

Hi. I have a child living under my care and paternally he is not mine. I have been supporting him and his mother since hes been born and he is now 1 and a half years old. Can i claim him on my taxes as a dependent yes or no and if so how?

Yes you may claim him as long as he has lived with you for at least 6 months and no one else is claiming him when filing. all you will need is his social security number and birth date when you file. regardless if someone else does try to claim him when they file you are the one who has had him in your home for more than half the year so you are eligible.
