I have odd years to claim my son - my ex already did her taxes and claimed him. I can prove it's my year. My return I did electronically was rejected, I was going to mail it with my son's info and documents that prove its my year. I hear it takes longer this way, but I am also concerned that I won't get any of my refund - will I get any of my refund, is it possible they will just minus the credit for my son and send me the balance or will I have to wait to until the IRS investigates to get any of my refund. What if I e-filed without my son's info so I can get most of my refund quicker, is there a way to go back and make a change and claim my son?.
