Do I Have To File Taxes?

I am 73 years old and my only income is a SSI check monthly. During 2007 I received $ 856.00 each month and today I received a 1040 package to prepare and pay income tax. I have not paid taxes for 10 years... If I do owe on the SSI ? where do I list it??
Thank you so much

Your SSI money is not taxable income. I'm sure the receipt of the tax information is a mistake. You mentioned that you have not filed taxes in 10 years. Some states offer a sales tax credit refund to certain people that meet financial criteria. In Oklahoma, the sales tax credit refund was $40 last year. You do not have to file a federal return to receieve this credit. It may be worth consideration in your case. It is always nice to get money we weren't expecting.
