Employer withholdings

I have one child and and Im not married but head of my house hold and my spouse is a real estate agent that only sold one house for the 2007 year. I work how do i claim my w4 can I claim them as a dependents so I can lower the tax they take out of my check and then have her calim our child on her income tax return because I owe child support back pay??

To be able to claim a dependent, you must meet the IRS qualifications: http://www.irs.gov/publications/p501/ar02.html#d0e2117

Also, you need to make an agreement with your spouse as to who will claim the child as a dependent, only one of you can.
