FILING DEADLINES

If you are entitled to refund, how long do you have to file your taxes?
It is my understanding, that I can still file 2004 taxes if it is done by
12/31/07 (3 years?)

Also, can you deduct settlement fees from your taxes? We sold our house in 2001 and purchased another one in 2004, can I deduct the settlement fees in 2004, or is it only a one-time deal, like your first home only. And if I can deduct them, what form do I use?

Thank you!

3 Years, however, If you have not filed your taxes, the IRS will assess taxes against you without giving you proper deductions. This assessment will result in a much higher tax, plus interest and penalties.
