Is it better to file a married joint tax return or separate return?

I just recently got married in october of 2008. I was wondering if I would get a larger return if I did a joint return claiming head of household or if we both filed separate returns?

Thanks

It is better to file joint return if you're planning on being together it will give you a bigger refund back plus a higher deduction

You would file not head of household but by married filing joint. the exemption amount has gone up and so has your dependent amount which means better money for you and bigger refund trust me it's my job to know these things

You will get the largest refund if you got married this year and file married filing jointly.
