Full time High School 18yr earned $7700 claimed as dependent do they have to file taxes?

I have claimed my 18 yr old son (Dec 2008 birthday) as a dependent, I provided full 12 months of support/food/housing, etc. My son is still a full time high school student until May 2009.

In 2008 he had 2 differnet part time jobs after school and earned $7700. He got 1 regular W2 (with fed/state withholding) for one of the jobs. Then a 1099-Misc for the other (selling door-to-door newspaper subscriptions) no fed/state withholdings.

Does he have to file taxes? If so does he have to do self employment and pay social security, etc. for the door-to-door job because of the 1099-Misc?

If not, do I have to claim his income, he put it in the bank to save for college?

Yes he will have to file his own taxes and he will have to do the self employment and pay social security, and this is the law also and he is above the limits for not having to pay any income tax. and heres a good page to read also!
