I want to know if I'm either getting anything back or nothing at all on my refund?

Last year my wife didnt work and I had a salary of about $21,000. I received about $1200 on my refund. This year I am at around $24,000 for the year with my wife as a dependant. My wife is working partime and is at about $4,000 for the year with no dependants. We have no children and we rent. We do not owe any taxes or have any debts (collection agency stuff). This year we will file two salaries as compared to last year where we just had my salary. We will file jointly. I want to know if we are going to receive anything back. And if you think we are, then about how much should we receive back?

Here is a great, simple tax estimator I stole from mma_mom:

Oh and btw, your wife would not be your dependent. You would file married filing jointly or married filing separate :)

Not really the answer you asked for but food for thought. Unless you are really bad at saving money you should fill out your w4 so that you get as close to zero back. without having to pay.

The reason is that you are letting the goverment borrow your money interest free. If you are a good saver you could take that money and invest it, or put it in account that you will get the most interest short or long term.

It depends on what you paid in if you will get a refund or not.
