If we claimed our 19 yr. old daughter as a dependent, will we get the 300 dollar child tax credit?

We filed our 19 yr. old daughter as a dependent on our taxes, is that age eligable for the credit? we filed jointly and thought we would get the 1,200.00 econ. stimulus pmt. and only received 901.00 total. I would like to know if my daughters child tax credit was included. And also, if she has a part time job, and filed income tax for 2007, is she eligable for the econ. stimulus pmt. as well. thank you, Linda Schapp.

No, you would not get a child credit for a 19 year old, and if anyone was able to claim her as a dependant then she would also not qualify for the stimulus payment.

The rules are these: there was no net income tax liability for 2007, then usually it was a minimum payment of $300, if you are single, or $600, if you are married filing jointly, as long as you had qualifying income of at least $3,000 in 2007.

It was a true answer. It is exactly what happened. It was also the only answer that I received.
