Is there a best way to file my taxes in 2008?

My wife and i were married in March of 07. She has been out of work since May of 2007. I will make 63,000 this year and her income is around 8,000. We also have a 12 year old son that she has claimed in past years. I am wondering what the best way will be for us to file this year? Married or maried but filing seperately? Or if you have another suggestion. In past years I have returned 3,000 dollars and she has got back 5000. We live in Florida.

Thank you

The first year of taxes with a new spouse, child, an illness? can all be quiet confussing. You will not qualify for an eic (earned income credit) this year as you have made above the cap. But you may qualifie for other exemptions, I would see a tax pro, if you try to do them yourself, you end up paying more than you owe.

Good luck.
