Letting dad claim as a dependent over filing himself

My boyfriend graduated last July from College. He started working immediately after and we moved in together in September. I did his taxes (not mailed) and he is getting about $900 back. Now his dad is asking for his w-2's so he can claim him on his taxes? Doesn't that mean his dad will not only get all that money back plus the economic stimulus check he is due? So like $1200 his dad is taking from him? Is there any way his dad can claim him and he still file a return himself?

If he went to school this year and is 23 or under, then his father should claim him. You may have to amend his taxes because he will have to check "no one can claim me as a dependent" on his tax form. To amend his taxes, he just needs to fill out a 1040x.
