State taxes

I lived in New York for 8 months and in Florida for the remainder of 2007. Do I need to file a New York return?

Yes, you should. Will have to figure out how much you made in each location and file accordingly

You must live in a state for 6 months to 1 year before you are considered a resident of that state. Since you were not in Florida for at least 6 months, you will file in New York. However, if you paid taxes to Florida, you will want to file there as well, as you may be entitled to a full return because you were not a resident last year.
