Tax credidt/child tax credit

Hiya filled in the form and it askes for p60 detals of last year which was 26000,my partner started a new job in may which is half that now due to circmstances changing,when i did the calculater we only get a small amount ?i need to be assessed on his new wage or do i have to wait til next year?if so we wont be able to manage?
