Are you trying to figure out from your paycheck how much money you will owe/get back?
Here is a calculator that mma_mom put up that can estimate that amount for you :)

H & R Block is still doing early filing here. They started Dec 10th. I would call your local one and check. I don't think they are really advertising it much. Nobody else I called are offering it this year due to people trying to file 2 times (get to refunds) last year.

Your company will usually send you a w-2 form in the mail sometime in Jan. I think that they have to have it mailed by the end of the month for legal reasons. You need to read some of the data off of that form to file taxes with the IRS.
Yes, you could come close to approximating your taxes and what you would owe or get as refund from your last pay check stub that you received from your company. But you should wait until you get w-2 in the mail from your company first.

Do hours and pay got to be on checkstubs by texas law?
When it comes to check stubs the law is not too direct on what needs to come on the check stubs. The main focus would be that the employer gives your check information / payment information to the IRS. I have heard many cases where check stubs are not even given.
I have looked all over the internet for Texas law on check stubs and do not really get anything back. I do not think there are any laws in Texas regarding what exactly is on the check stub. Now if they are printing your social security number and giving your personal information they must abide certain privacy laws.
I would obviously assume that if nothing else the amount paid would be on the check stub. I do not know about the hours. However the payment information should come on the check stub as a receipt. You can always ask your payroll department at your company. Perhaps they can give you more details on Texas check stub law.
