You will need to have your w-2 to file. Depending on the pay period of your last check it may not cover up to 12/31/07. The numbers may not be accurate anyway if it does and you also need to enter information that is on the w-2. Just be patient :) We are entitled to receive our w-2 by the end of Jan. if not sooner. Also, if you have someone do your taxes they will need it and if they send it in snail mail they have to send the w-2 as well.
If you file online as soon as you get your w-2 and select the return to be deposited into your checking/savings account you will get it the end of Feb or the 1st week of March. (Thats when I got mine last year.)

No all info that you need is on your check stub. you will need your w-4 if you take it to someone to file your taxes. If you want to file with your last checkstub you will have to file online. If you made less than 54000 you can go to irs.gov and do free file ( it should be up by mid january). Or you can go to hr block website and file for 14.95 if you are using 1040 direct deposit it and have your back before your w-2 even arrives.

You do need your w2 form to file your taxes for the year. You should have that form by the end of January and I think you can start filing in February.

H&R Block does have early tax filing that you can do with your last pay check stub if you pay their early filing fees if you don't want to wait.
