Do I need a set top descrambler to view (in SD format) HDTV?

I don't have an HDTV. What I did buy is a Magnavox DV Recorder with an SD tuner built in.

Looking at my set (analog) with the DVR, I can see a couple of different stations more that I could without it. My current analog stations look better without the DVR.

I plan to buy an HDTV some day, but I'm happy using my analog for now. I have an outside antenna, and I live roughly 30 to 50 miles from broadcast stations.

I live in Flora, MS, and broadcasts mostly come from Jackson, MS.

Are you talking about over the air stuff?

and you must have an HDTV to view any HDTV feed. if you only have a standard def TV you can only view standard def channels.

unless you buy an HDTV and subscribe to HDTV channels, there is no way to really view HDTV
