Unfortunately, you either, some of the contacts between the headset and the receiver or, as the first answerer said, you may have toasted the main display. Either way you'll probably need a new phone. Sorry...

Just because your screen is blank, doesn't mean you need a new phone. There are companies out there that can take a look at your phone and see if it's repairable, and often fix cell phones without much difficulty, and at much less of an expense than buying a new cell phone outside of your contract. However, you might want to take off the back and the battery to see if there is a red dot on the battery or on the back of the phone that might suggest there is water damage.
If your screen is blank and there may be water damage, I would suggest the following:
1) See if you're eligible to upgrade your phone with a new two year agreement. Often times, your cell phone carrier will give you a free phone or a discounted cell phone if you've had your current one long enough. The Motorola V555 is an older phone, so you might be in good shape.
2) See if you have insurance on your cell phone plan. You'll most likely have to pay a deductible, but again, it might be cheaper than purchasing a new cell phone.
3) Look on the web for a new cell phone, like eBay or Craigslist.
Not exactly painless, but I ordered them from least expensive to most. Good luck.
