Hard Drive Recovery

My mom's hard drive crashed. Dell gave me a number for a recovery service to get her pics/etc off, but I'm wondering if I have other options for doing it? Maybe cheaper?

You could try and plug that hard drive into another computer and see what you can pull off it if yourself with a recovery program.

You could do it yourself, or else you buy a program to do it

if you dont know what to do, it is worth taking it somewhere to do it.

Yeah, Fortunatly my boss overhead me making calls and told me that his son does it. He charged me $75 bucks and got all the data off. What a lifesaver! And freaking dell's company wanted to charge me aprox $800 just to do .jpg files. What a rip off. Wonder how many people pay it without looking around?
