HDTV over antennea?

Can I receive HDTV using my old Analog antennea if I get a converter box? Or will the distance to receive signal be cut down? Also do you know anything about Panasonic TU-DST51 HD DTV Receiver w/ Digital Interface?
Thanks!

Did you ever get an answer ? I am asking because my question is similar: I have a Toshiba DST-3000 High Def Digital Receiver and I don't know if I need it at all because I have Comcast cable and do not have access to direct TV or satellite.

Suse, if you Comcast, you really won't need your digital receiver if you can't get OTA (over the air) transmissions. GFM3, if you have an analog TV you can get digital signals if you have a digital receiver. As long as your current TV has AV inputs, you’ll be able to buy a digital tuner with AV outputs that will allow you to use your current analog TV. AV – Audio Visual – inputs are the red, white and yellow inputs on the back, side or front of your TV. One of the requirements of Digital TV boxes is that they provide outputs to work with older Analog sets.
