How do I correct windows validation error?

I purchased my computer from Disc N Dat Computers, now closed, the computer was built there. I received a message stating windows did not pass genuine windows validation and could be a victim of software counterfeiting, how do I correct?

When did you get this error, and can you use Windows Update?

Ouch, hopefully you just changed some components/software and it became unvalidated. I'm really hoping you didn't get a illegal copy of windows.

OK, before you install any service packs, install all other updates first.

When you see the Service Pack 3 screen, at the lower left you will see "review other updates".

Install all these first, restart, set a Restore Point, then install Service Pack 3.

Let us know how it goes.

Also, what is your make/model of PC?
