How do I verify windows updates before installing?

I have an update ready to install, however I want to verify what the update is before allowing for the install; how do I check it prior to installation.

Running Windows XP Home Edition.

Double click on the yellow sheild on the bottom of your page(taskbar). Select custom install. This way you can see details of the update to help you determine what your installing....and you will be able 2 select what u wanna install or not install.
