If you are still running 98, I recommend you upgrade if possible. If you are attempting to run a newer game with older hardware, that could be the bane of your issue.

Exactly what are you trying to do, and what make/model of PC do you have?

You did not tell in details of system configuration. It is ok to run most of the latest game with windows 98. but you should upgrade your system.

to play latest 3/4d game you need high RAM, enough hard disk space, direct 3D card etc that can be found from your games instructions.
