Lcd hdtv

Our LCD TV isn't working right. It takes about a half hour to hour to turn it on. We have been leaving it on and am worried this will make it worse. Is it okay to leave it on for long periods at a time until we can get it fixed? Also is there a free online manual to fix a LCD TV yourself? I've done some searching but can't find anything.

Here is a link to a site where you can download manuals. My grandpa used to fix tvs, but he retired long before modern tvs, so it wouldn't help much :(

Good luck!

I have the manual, but need a service manual. The one I have doesn't say anything about fixing it.
Thanks for the site, but mine didn't come up. Its a Magnavox.
Does your grandpa know anyone who still fixes? We are willing to pay someone, but every place we call charges like $200/hour for labor and said parts would prob be at least $150. For that kind of price we can almost buy a new one.

Magnavox lcd flat hd - a little over 1 year old (warrenty just went out last month). I'm sure it's got to be just the switch or something simple. It works once you get it on, but it takes forever (now it takes 2-3 hours) to turn on. It flashes - then shuts of, flashes, shuts off... Eventually it will stay on.

Have you tried hard - resetting it by unplugging it for 4 hours?

Wow I can't find anything! They must not want you to repair it on your own!

I left it unplugged overnight, but it didn't help much. I will try it again though. It can't hurt. I'm getting pretty frusterated with it. We bought the LCD because everyone said that plasma's were bad and would go out in a year. Freakin' technology. We can shoot a satallite out of the sky in one shot, but we can't make a freaking tv work longer than a year (unless you get an old one w/o HD ability).

The thing with modern tvs, is that they are almost cheaper to replace then they are repair.

which might put the tv repair business out of business

sounds like you might need a new tv? is it still under warranty?

Warrenty was up in Jan - go figure. I think it would be cheaper to buy a new one, but we can't afford it right now. Thats why we are hoping to fix ourselves. When I let my hubby spend $900 on a tv I expected it to last a while - It was supposed to be a one time splurge. Now it's the only one we got and it rarely works. P*sses me off....
