Sounds like a software issue to me , if you have the software CD and installion instructions that came with your printer i would uninstall it and reinstall it
go to start / setting / control panel / add and remove progams icon
find your printer there and highlight it and click remove, when its done close all other programs , turn off your printer and disconnect your printer from your P C at the back of the printer and run the instalation C D following the instructions , you should see a dialog box saying the installation was completed successfully
when you reconnect your printer and turn it on your P C will find the new hardware and install the software your installed . this will solve any software issues you might of had.
