It will work just fine if you battery is charged
Ok, so I take the tv with me in the car, battery full, but how do I attach the the hdtv unit? If all channels will only broadcast in hd, how do I pick up the channels?
Here is a site with a choice of HD indoor antennas that are very reasonable

Do you drive and watch TV , i hope you dont talk on your cell phone at the same time also
hehehehehe
Can anyone answer my question? NO, I DO NOT DRIVE AND WATCH TV OR TALK ON THE PHONE. I want to use my watchman tv after the conversion. How do I plug in an electrical device to my battery tv? If you do not know, do not give me a smart- mouth answer. This is a serious concern to me.
My tv has a built in antenna. How am I supposed to connect the converter?
You put batteries in
you turn on tv
you watch tv
*relax and rejoice*
tv runs out of batteries
tv goes out
*you get sad*
put batteries in tv
tv works again
*you are happy again*
*you do the happy dance*
repeat
I don't know if they will make battery powered digital converter units. I haven't seen any yet, and the ones I have seen are about the size of a new hard back book. which is hardly portable.
You might have to buy a new portable TV in order to keep watching your battery powered tv
