Tv double image

My tv is about 5 years old. My wife said she smelled something burning and later the tv started displaying with a double image. what would my problem be.

Probably in the picture tube "Gun" located at the neck of the tube in back , it controls

emission of electrons to excite the phosphurs in the tubes viewing surface.

it may be possilbe to have it aligned/ adjusted , could be expensive . if it costs more than a 1/3

of a new one to fix , go with a new one ( the t/v that is)
