What are the benefits of using a database on a website?

I was wondering what the benefits are of using a database on a website. So far, most of the websites I have made have been HTML sites. Is there any benefit to going to one that uses a database?

The couple website I have made have some pictures and articles I wrote on them. With some links to articles and websites that I like.

Do I need to upgrade?

You get more accurate information on the subject you are researching, .com's are not the best to always go to though.

There are alot of benefits.

Mainly for creating and storing dynamic data and not having to recreate pages.

Like this site uses a database to store all the questions and answers. but it does take more knowledge then just HTML to set up, so it isn't always worth it.
