When opening Outlook, get MS Connector Error

After loading MS Office 2007, I installed and then uninstalled MS Live
Essentials. After uninstalling, I began getting an error upon opening
Outlook. I say OK and proceed.

"The Add-in 'Outlook Connector Extensions' (mscon32.dll) cannot be
loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the add-in
manufacturer for an update. If no update is available, please
uninstall the add-in."

I have seen a number of others with this same problem on the web, but
never an answer of how to fix it. I am running XP. This drives me
crazy and happens every time I open Outlook. Originally, I think
Outlook wanted me to do several online sign ins when I opened outlook,
so I uninstalled MS Live Essentials. In trying to get rid of this
error, I completely uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled. Made no
difference. Error still there. Can't find any info on how to get rid
of this error notification.

I have been reading about this and some sites want you to make a new profile and one said something that made me check my email profiles under Tools in Outlook. I find that I have both a (my email) pop3 profile and a (my email) mapi profile. The pop3 is the default and the correct profile. I don't know why the mapi is there and was going to delete it, but was afraid it would impair my pop3 profile. I have pretty simple email using yahoo.com thru Outlook. Can I just delete the mapi profile and leave my pop3 profile and get rid of this error?

Maybe the uninstall got botched.
Do the easiest thing first:

First, reboot your computer.

Go here and download Live Essentials again.

http://download.live.com/

Install it (don't open Outlook) & then reboot your computer again.

Uninstall Live Essentials using control panel add/remove programs

If this doesn't work then carry on reading:

To disable

To remove an uninstalled add-in

Close Outlook

Go start/Run and type this in the open: field "%appdata%" (without quotations)

Go to the folder Microsoft/Outlook and then delete extend.dat.

Restart Outlook

If this doesn't work then you need to edit the registry but only do this if you are confident
