You simply have to visit the Archipiélago de Bocas del Toro.

The main town on the archipelago is Bocas del Toro on the southeastern tip of Isla Colón. The archipelago is off the northeast coast of Panama and is accessible by plane from Panama City, David and Changuinola, or by ferry from Almirante and Chiriquí Grande.

And for sure don't miss going to La Palma, literally a one-street town, La Palma is the capital of Darién province, home to Parque Nacional Darién.

I spent 3 weeks there last year, literally going everywhere, but those were my favorite!!

Oh, and if your going to be in Panama City at all, eat at least one meal at Restaurante Vegetariano Mireya. Vegetarian, but can you say down home "Yum!!"

You might also try gettin gover to the Atlantic side. Isla Grande is a neat little trip as is Puerto Bella where there is an old Spanish fort which used to be the main transport hub for the Spanish as most of the gold from the New World went back to the old world.

Also, it's worth getting into the jungle to see the sloths, monkey's and cutter ants. It's pretty amazing when you are close to the canal to feel like you're in the deepest most remote part of the jungle and then as you hit a small clearing, you see the mast of a ship cutting through the jungle. Its pretty awsome. There's also a swamp that glows orange as opposed to green which most of them do.

Parque Nacional Darién Is a huge national park, awesome stuff in there, it is a short walk from La Palma, and thanks Mtn, I forgot about Puerto Bella.
