Flying within state...

Why on earth do I have to fly through a completely different state to get to another city in my state? I actually understand why, just complaining, I mean the city I'm flying to is in the same stae, and about a 8hr drive, I have to fly to a city 2 states away, have a 2 hour layover then fly to my destination (roundtrip) crappy. Anyone been to the airport in salt lake lately? whats exciting there or around?

It has to do with the flight paths that are established for planes to fly in over the United States.

Planes just can't fly any old way they want, they have to stay in this imaginary roads per se over the US.

One time I flew out of DC to Denver. I was able to see both Chicago and Detroit out of my window as we flew over both of them that night.

That is why you can't just fly the shortest ole route to the nearest city, but have to follow the flight lanes to get there. or else, the airport carrier you are on, doesn't have a direct flight there.

I haven't been to the SLC airport, the one time I was there I drove there from Denver.

It has to be a more happening place then an airport like Syracuse, NY. there is nothing to do there. *bore*
